Mixed Media Art is a broad category. It generally means that work is not pureIy one method, such as oil painting, photography and watercolor. I have been making work that is not just one thing for a long time. Currently most of my mixed media work involves a mixture of my photographs and paint.
I began painting directly into photographs after returning from living in Singapore in 2000. I was given a carousel of slides that a man had taken in Singapore in the 1960’s. Since working with those images I have used old family photos and pictures I take to print and then paint. The process is engaging.
